At 8 weeks old Peyton was found alone in the street by Chicago Animal Care and Control officers.  She did not have any use of her left hind leg.

Upon examination it was determined that her left leg was severely broken and hanging by a thread in her hip joint.  FCACC transferred her into foster care and made sure Peyton got the emergency veterinary care she needed.

The vet determined that her leg was beyond repair and recommended that it be amputated.  Don't feel sorry for this girl though -- she has no idea she is supposed to have 4 legs!

Her foster mom  reports that she is playing and running with two residents dogs just like any other puppy her age.
