Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control (FCACC) is the nonprofit group committed exclusively to helping save the lives of over 23,000 animals that come into custody of Chicago Animal Care and Control (ACC) at 2741 S. Western each year.

A Big Night Indeed!
Thank you to all of those who made Big Night 2011 possible this year! From our celebrity chefs, including chef Jackie Shen, to our Honorary Chairman Dr. Les Fisher, to our talented Emcee Bill Kurtis of WBBM-TV, to our fabulous partners and sponsors, all guests enjoyed a wonderful evening.
Proceeds from Big Night are the organization’s largest source of revenue for the year and are used to fund their foster care program for cats and dogs from the City of Chicago Shelter at 2741 S. Western. Since the inception of the group’s foster care program two years ago, Friends has rescued over 800 animals with the help of their 80 state-licensed and approved foster homes. Primary expenses are for medical care, including spay-neuter surgery, treatment for illness, and surgery for injuries.

Jackie Shen, originator of our Big Night celebrity chefs event, lined up a record 14 fabulous chefs who served up delicious dishes of all kinds. It was a culinary feast enjoyed by all! The “who’s who” list included:

We are doubly honored! In addition to our celebrity chefs, we were exceptionally pleased to have Dr. Les Fisher as our Honorary Chairman of Big Night in recognition of our tenth anniversary. Dr. Fisher led the Lincoln Park Zoo as director for three decades. He's always been a companion animal guy, too, serving on the board of Anti-Cruelty and the City's Animal Care and Control Commission, as well as being a long-time advisor and supporter of Friends. Plus, legendary broadcast journalist, Bill Kurtis, was our emcee for the evening! We still can't believe we were fortunate enough to have these two famous animal advocates on board for our 7th annual Big Night!
